Ask The Artist: PUTRED — Death Metal Rotting Slowly in the Shadows of Transylvania

From the fog-soaked depths of Transylvania, Romania, PUTRED crawl back with new filth. The slow-decaying death metal cult has unveiled “Devorat de Întuneric”, a brand-new track taken from their upcoming third album Blestemul Din Adânc, due out this March.

Before we descend into the darkness, we asked one simple question — one that every death metal lifer remembers all too well.

The Question of the day:

“What was the first death metal album you ever heard? What did you think about it back then?”

PUTRED answer:

“I’m an old timer, so the first ‘death metal’ album I ever heard was KREATOR – Pleasure to Kill. Back then that was death metal, by the way, and my first impression was like demons were possessing my stereo! Amazing stuff!”

PUTRED – “Devorat de Întuneric”

With “Devorat de Întuneric”, PUTRED drag the listener into a suffocating underworld where rot, dread and ritual reign supreme. This is not death metal built for speed or flash — it’s slow, oppressive and cavernous, designed to linger like a curse that won’t lift.

Performed entirely in Romanian, the track oozes atmosphere and menace, driven by crushing mid-paced riffs, guttural invocations and a claustrophobic tone that feels less like a song and more like a dark rite unfolding. PUTRED have always favored mood over mechanics, and here they sharpen that vision into something truly unsettling.

Emerging in 2020, the Transylvanian death dealers have steadily carved their own path through old-school decay, steeped in themes of death, the occult and the afterlife. “Devorat de Întuneric” pushes that identity deeper into the abyss — repetitive, hypnotic and relentlessly grim.

The track serves as the first omen from Blestemul Din Adânc, PUTRED’s third full-length album, set for release on March 20, 2026. Expect an album that lives and breathes in darkness, expanding their already morbid sound into something even more ritualistic and suffocating.

⚰️ Slow death. Ancient rot. Transylvanian dread.
PUTRED are not here to entertain — they’re here to consume.
