Only a week before Nile kicks off their massive Underworld Awaits Tour USA 2025, bassist/vocalist Dan Vadim Von has announced his departure from the band after just two years in the lineup.
Von, who joined Nile in 2023 and performed on their latest album The Underworld Awaits Us All (2024), revealed the news in a personal Instagram post rather than through any official Nile channels.
“I have decided to leave Nile to focus on other commitments. Thank you to everyone who came to the shows during my time as frontman, you were the best part of this experience. I am working on new material for 2026. Stay metal.”
The band itself has yet to comment on the sudden lineup change. Their social media remains focused on hyping the upcoming tour, with posts such as:
“We are gearing up for this epic U.S. Tour. The first show is already sold out, so get your tickets now and we will see you on the road!”
For now, Nile fans are left speculating who will hold down bass duties when the tour begins September 12 in Raleigh, NC. Reddit discussions are already full of theories — from Dan turning full-time to his role in Morbid Angel, to the long-running joke that Nile cycles through bassists almost as often as they cycle through ancient Egyptian deities.
Regardless of who picks up the four strings, Nile will be hitting the road hard:

Dan Vadim Von’s departure is the latest in Nile’s long history of frequent lineup shifts. For many fans, his contribution on The Underworld Awaits Us All was a highlight, and his stage presence brought a new edge to the band’s crushing live shows. Now, the question remains: who will share the mic (and bass duties) with Karl Sanders when the tour begins?
One thing is certain: the underworld awaits, whether or not Nile has a bassist confirmed.
Here’s our small video of Brutal Assault 2025 NILE performance, probably the last one with Dan Vadim Von.
