Brian May Explains Why QUEEN Has No Plans To Tour The U.S.: “It’s A Dangerous Place At The Moment”

QUEEN’s long and storied relationship with the United States appears to be on pause — and not because of ticket sales or fatigue. According to guitarist Brian May, the band currently has no plans to tour America again anytime soon, citing concerns over safety and the country’s overall climate.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, May addressed why a return to U.S. stages isn’t on the horizon following QUEEN’s last American run in 2023.

“America is a dangerous place at the moment, so you have to take that into account,” May said. “It’s very sad because I feel like Queen grew up in America and we love it, but it’s not what it was.”

Those words carry weight, considering just how deeply QUEEN’s legacy is tied to the U.S. The band played hundreds of shows across the country throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, building a massive audience that helped propel them to global superstardom. Decades later, that bond was renewed when QUEEN began touring extensively in North America with Adam Lambert, who joined as lead vocalist in 2014.

But May suggests that what once felt like a second home now requires serious reconsideration.

“Everyone is thinking twice about going there at the moment,” he added.

While no official announcement has been made regarding future touring territories, May’s comments make it clear that QUEEN’s absence from U.S. stages isn’t about a lack of love — it’s about weighing risks that simply weren’t part of the equation in earlier decades.

For now, American fans may have to wait, as one of rock’s most iconic bands chooses caution over nostalgia.
