CASTRATOR Unleash “Fragments Of Defiance” – New Single From Upcoming Album ‘Coronation Of The Grotesque’

💥 Brutal, Righteous, and Very, Very Loud

If you thought Castrator were going to quietly follow up their debut Defiled in Oblivion, think again. The New York-based death metal warriors are back with “Fragments Of Defiance”, the second single from their upcoming sophomore album, Coronation Of The Grotesque, and let’s just say… it’s not here to make friends.

Streaming now, the track delivers exactly what fans have come to expect from Castrator: blistering riffs, cavernous growls, and lyrics that actually say something. While many bands stick to gore and demons, Castrator dives straight into the horrors of real life—from ancient brutality to modern atrocities—and somehow makes it slam.

Coronation Of The Grotesque – Not Your Average Gore Fest

Set for release August 15 via Dark Descent Records, the album follows up 2022’s Defiled in Oblivion, an underground favorite that made it clear Castrator weren’t just another band with a violent name and a love of blast beats.

This time around, they’ve upped the ante both musically and thematically. The lyrics explore real-world injustice, historical cruelty, and modern-day horror—from the brutal killing of Mahsa Amini in Iran, to the Sumerian tradition of eunuchization, to the searing takedown of convicted predator Naasón Joaquín García. Vocalist Clarissa Badini spits fire across all of it, delivering what may be one of the most furious—and articulate—vocal performances in recent death metal memory.

Brutality by Committee: A Who’s Who of Underground Metal

Coronation Of The Grotesque was recorded across multiple studios, with a murderer’s row of death metal engineers:

  • John Tardy (Obituary) handled bass recording at Redneck Studios

  • Jordan Milner (Obsidian Audio) captured guitars and vocals

  • Taylor Nordberg (Deicide) contributed additional guitars at Smoke and Mirrors Productions

  • Noah Buchanan (Nunslaughter) took care of drums, mixing, and mastering at Mercinary Studios

Basically, if you threw a hammer at the U.S. death metal scene, it hit someone who worked on this album.

LIVE RITUAL: Castrator at Decibel Metal & Beer Fest

If you like your metal live (and accompanied by beer), you’re in luck. Castrator will be performing on December 5 at the Decibel Magazine Metal and Beer Fest in Denver, CO, alongside heavy hitters like Acid Bath and Blood Incantation.

🗓️ Fest Dates:

  • December 4 (Pre-Fest @ Ratio Beerworks)

  • December 5–6 (Main Fest @ Fillmore Auditorium)

Final Thoughts

Between the righteous fury of their lyrics, the heavyweight team behind their production, and their raw sonic power, Castrator’s Coronation Of The Grotesque isn’t just a new release—it’s a manifesto. If you’re tired of the same old blood-and-guts death metal and want something with substance AND savagery, this album is going to be your new obsession.

Castrator is back—and the world should be nervous.
