Lzzy Hale from HALESTORM just spilled the beans about her upcoming gig at the “Back To The Beginning” charity show on July 4th in Birmingham. The event’s a double whammy – it’ll mark both BLACK SABBATH’s original lineup reunion (their first in 20 years!) and Ozzy Osbourne’s final solo performance. When asked if she’d perform the iconic “Close My Eyes Forever” duet (you know, the one she crushed with DISTURBED’s David Draiman for his SIDE PROJECT), Lzzy dropped this gem: “Tom Morello’s got it on the setlist, but we’re all playing the ‘Ozzy Health Bingo’ game. We’ll see what the Prince of Darkness is up for that day.”
Fun fact: Lzzy learned BLACK SABBATH’s “Heaven and Hell” as her FIRST guitar riff at age 11. She later opened for the Ronnie James Dio-fronted HEAVEN & HELL in 2009 – which turned out to be Dio’s final show. “If 13-year-old me saw this? She’d call you a liar and steal your mixtape,” Lzzy laughed.
The lineup’s a who’s who of rock royalty:
- METALLICA
- GUNS N’ ROSES (with Slash and Duff McKagan)
- TOOL
- PANTERA’s reunion lineup
- Alice In Chains
- LAMB OF GOD
- …and 30+ more acts including a “supergroup” with members from RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, VAN HALEN, and SMASHING PUMPKINS
Pro tip: This show sold out in 10 minutes flat. Proceeds go to Parkinson’s research and children’s hospitals – because even metalheads have soft centers.
Ozzy’s last full show was in 2018, but he’s defying the odds for this finale. The man’s survived bat bites, a broken neck, and COVID – this might be your FINAL chance to see the Godfather of Metal roar.
