Death metal visionaries Horrendous are launching 2026 the only way they know how: by resurrecting the album that sent them hurtling into the genre’s upper orbit. Before the band heads back into the crypt to craft their sixth full-length, they’ll mark 10 years of Anareta with two exclusive anniversary shows this January.
Yes — Anareta, the album Decibel crowned Best of 2015, the one many fans still treat like ancient scripture, the one that sent metal writers scrambling for thesauruses in search of synonyms for “otherworldly.” That one.
And for the first time in years, Horrendous will perform the album front to back.
“This album was forged during a period of intense inspiration and drive,” the band says.
“We were honing our sound, exploring new territory, and beginning to truly become ourselves.”
“We’re excited to reanimate these songs — many of which haven’t graced a stage in years — and breathe new life into the record that propelled us down our current trajectory. Come toast Anareta with us before we enter hibernation to focus on album number six.”
In other words: see these shows before the band disappears into the abyss to write another universe-collapsing masterpiece.
