Hyperspace Metal Fest Announces First Bands for 2026 — and It Might Be Your Last Chance

Vancouver’s melodic and power metal stronghold Hyperspace Metal Fest has revealed the first wave of bands for its 2026 edition — and it comes with both big names and a small existential twist.

Set for April 16–18, 2026, across The Cobalt (April 16–17) and the Rickshaw Theatre (April 18), the festival will return for its seventh edition with a lineup that blends classic power metal, modern melodic death metal, and everything shiny and sword-adjacent in between.

Also: after 2026, Hyperspace is going on indefinite hiatus. So yes — this is technically a party, and possibly a farewell party.

First Wave of Bands Announced

Sanctuary (Canadian-exclusive performance of Into The Mirror Black in full)
Owlbear
Atavistia (headlining Night 1)
Voidchaser
Artificial Language
Witch Killer
Ophelia Falling
Lycanthro
Thorsguard
Valley of Despair

More bands will be announced soon.

Festival organizer Joey Hockin (Journeyman Productions) comments:

“We are beyond stoked to finally announce the first wave of bands for Hyperspace Metal Festival VII! Sanctuary will be performing a Canadian exclusive performance of Into The Mirror Black in its entirety! Atavistia will be headlining night one, which will have a heavy emphasis on melodic death metal. After this year, the festival will be going on indefinite hiatus, so if you’ve been wanting to make it to Hyperspace, this could be your last chance. Let’s rage together at the Rickshaw and the Cobalt one last time!”

Festival Details

Hyperspace Metal Fest VII
📍 Vancouver, BC
📅 April 16–18, 2026
🏟 The Cobalt (Apr 16–17) & Rickshaw Theatre (Apr 18)

Now in its seventh year, Hyperspace has earned a reputation as one of Western Canada’s most consistently fun and focused metal festivals — no filler, no genre confusion, just melody, speed, riffs, and a crowd that knows every chorus.

So if you like your metal heroic, your guitar solos dramatic, and your festivals potentially finite, you may want to circle these dates.

More lineup announcements coming soon.
