Defeated Sanity’s upcoming spring North American tour just got a notable lineup shake-up — and for Inferi, the timing couldn’t be better.
Earlier today, it was announced that Inferi will replace Vulvodynia as a supporting act on the tour, stepping in on short notice after the South African deathcore outfit was forced to withdraw. Defeated Sanity addressed the change briefly, offering no details beyond a concise explanation:
“Unfortunately due to outside factors Vulvodynia are no longer able to make this tour. Thankfully Inferi were able to step up here and replace them on short notice.”
Inferi’s addition turns a sudden vacancy into a major opportunity. The technical melodic death metal band will hit the road just days after releasing their new album, Heaven Wept, which arrives on April 10 — only six days before the tour kicks off in Anaheim, California. Instead of easing into the album cycle, Inferi will be launching the record directly in front of North American crowds across 27 dates.
The tour runs from April 16 in Anaheim through May 16 in Las Vegas, giving Inferi a full month to put new material in front of both longtime fans and fresh ears alongside one of extreme metal’s most respected live acts.
As for Vulvodynia, no further explanation has been given regarding their exit beyond the mention of “outside factors.” The band has experienced a turbulent few months marked by lineup changes and offstage complications, but no official connection has been made between those issues and the tour withdrawal.
For now, the focus shifts forward. Inferi are in, the tour is back on solid ground, and Heaven Wept is about to get its trial by fire — exactly where a record like that belongs.
