King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are once again packing up their 87-genre discography and heading back to the States next summer. The Australian psych-rock shapeshifters will anchor their own Field of Vision II festival in Colorado and hit New York for a three-night run in Queens—because apparently one night of Gizz is never enough for anyone.
Field of Vision II happens August 14–16 at Meadow Creek in Buena Vista, CO, continuing the band’s tradition of building entire festivals around themselves like psychedelic nesting dolls. This year’s supporting cast is delightfully chaotic: Blood Incantation (cosmic death metal astronauts), Die Spitz, Earth Tongue, Upchuck, performance icon Pattie Gonia, and more. It’s a lineup that somehow makes perfect sense if you’ve ever listened to at least five King Gizzard albums in a row and started questioning linear time.
As the band puts it:
“Field of Vision I was so special. Anyone who was there would tell you there was some magic in the air. Or maybe the creek water.”
Honestly, both feel plausible.
After Colorado, Gizz head east for a three-show takeover at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, happening August 20–22. Expect deep cuts, endless jams, microtonal chaos, and probably at least one song about climate doom that goes way harder live than it has any right to.
