Friday, May 2 will see the release of Institutionalized Genocide, the latest document from Compactor, presenting 12 tracks spanning 50 minutes of the artist’s signature brand of industrialized noise. As can be derived from its title, the album’s subject matter addresses the myriad world events over the last 18 months, focusing on the interconnected aspects of the rise of right wing attitudes and legislation in various parts of the world; “None of us are free until all of us are free,” says Compactor SysAdmin Derek Rush, the statement also appearing on the new run of T-shirts accompanying the album’s release via Chthonic Streams. Institutionalized Genocide follows up on 2023’s United, which ReGen editor-in-chief Ilker Yücel called “a reminder that resistance in the face of injustice is too easily quelled.”
In addition, Compactor will be conducting the Southwest Campaign, marking the first of several planned tours for this year. From April 17 to the album release date of May 2, the artist will be “the first live shifts in most of these cities, and the first in several years for a few others.” Among the stops on the campaign are Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Austin, Houston, Kansas City, Albuquerque, New Orleans, and more. The two Arizona shows will feature Chthonic Streams labelmates Solypsis. A full listing of dates and ticket information can be found via SongKick.com.

Compactor will then appear at SlabFest, taking place on May 17-18 in Manchester, NH. Among the other acts on the festival roster are Murderous Vision, Black Guard Insurgency, Guerilla Theater, Retribution Body, Bonnie Kane, Melting Regular, Marie Carroll, Many Blessings, Xiphoid Dementia, Kristina Warren, and more. Tickets and additional information can be found on the SlabFest website.
