Continuing their renewed relationship with one of the most defining doom metal records of the last decade, PALLBEARER have announced a 2026 North American tour centered around Foundations Of Burden. The run follows last year’s remixed and reissued edition of the album and will feature the band performing the record in full across select markets in the Northeast, Midwest, and beyond.
The tour — presented in collaboration with Ground Control Touring — will include support from KNOLL on select dates. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 23 at 10 a.m. local time.
The band describe Foundations Of Burden as a cornerstone of their history, noting that revisiting the album last year proved both revitalizing and emotional. Performing it live front to back has reinforced how central the record remains to their identity — and why it was worth returning to the stage once again in 2026, including a continuation of shows alongside KNOLL, who joined them on select dates last December.
Originally released in 2014, Foundations Of Burden marked a major leap forward for PALLBEARER, though its creation was anything but smooth. Bassist and vocalist Joseph D. Rowland recalls a chaotic writing and recording period defined by minimal resources, unstable sessions, file corruption, and sheer exhaustion. With little more than improvised rehearsal spaces and barely functional equipment, the band pushed through an almost surreal recording process — sleeping in the studio, re-recording parts repeatedly, and fighting to preserve detail as time and budget evaporated.
That struggle, Rowland explains, left behind a lingering sense that the album never fully realized its intended depth. Over the following decade, as the band continued performing the material live, their understanding of the songs evolved — eventually leading to the decision to reconstruct the album from the ground up.
Released in 2025, Foundations Of Burden (2025 Redux) was rebuilt from original sessions and newly recorded guitar tracks, restoring nuance that had been sacrificed during the original mix. The redux edition features new mixes and mastering, updated artwork by Benjamin Vierling, and runs 55 minutes across six tracks. The album was produced by PALLBEARER, mixed by Mario Quintero (SPOTLIGHTS), mastered by Adam Gonsalves, and includes original engineering by Billy Anderson from the 2014 sessions.
Now, with the redux fully realized, PALLBEARER are bringing Foundations Of Burden back to the stage — not as a nostalgia exercise, but as a living document finally presented the way the band always intended.
