Shai Hulud Australian & New Zealand 2026 Tour Cancelled

It’s with heavy hearts that we report Shai Hulud’s upcoming Australian and New Zealand tour in January 2026 has been cancelled. The band and their tour partners, Evil Eyes Touring and Southern Extremities Productions, issued an official statement explaining the difficult decision:

“Unfortunately the feast or famine tide that has affected many events lately has swung against us with slower than expected ticket sales in some locations. With these forces at play we have made the incredibly tough decision to cancel the Shai Hulud dates in January of 2026. Sincere and heartfelt apologies to ticket holders who were as excited for these shows as we were. All purchases will be refunded in full. Please keep supporting live music — it’s more important now than ever.”

Tour organizers also shared some personal thoughts on the situation, highlighting the challenges of touring in the current climate:

“This last week or so has been really tough, because this decision was being discussed, and ultimately, made. Touring anywhere is hard at the moment, but running full bi-national tours of Australasia — where it seems you’re either killing it or being killed — is a tricky and complex situation. Rising costs in all areas, fluctuating flight prices, and the pressure of presales mean that if the numbers aren’t there, it’s extremely stressful to move forward. Huge apologies to all those who were keen for these shows — Mischa and I were super stoked to see these guys and run this tour, but we’ve had to make this very difficult decision. Neither of us can kick off 2026 deep in the red; it wouldn’t be good for anyone.”

The cancellation is a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges facing live music in the current economic climate. Fans who purchased tickets will be fully refunded, and the organizers urge continued support for live music, which is more vital than ever.

Shai Hulud’s Australian and New Zealand fans will undoubtedly be disappointed, but the focus now is on ensuring the band and the promoters can come back stronger in the future.
