Norwegian outlets report that Snorre W. Ruch of Thorns and General Gribbsphiiser (Rune Røstad) of Slagmaur have been reported missing after a mountain hike near Tjønnstua, Norway.
Search efforts are currently underway, involving the Red Cross, fire service, and Civil Defence, but conditions are worsening due to fog and incoming storms, according to Fosen Folket. Authorities ask anyone with information to contact the incident commander at (+47) 97 62 86 96.
Two days ago, Røstad shared on Facebook that he and Ruch were “packed and ready for a long boys’ trip and a night under the open sky,” equipped with cameras, food, and “enough booze.” Their car was later found unlocked near Tjønnstua. Search teams are now following their planned route toward Tussbotna and Torsenget, where the pair had intended to do photography work.

Ruch’s phone was discovered inside the vehicle, and the other had no registered mobile, complicating tracking efforts. The route is estimated to take about seven and a half hours on foot through challenging terrain.
Both men are described as experienced outdoorsmen and filmmakers, well-prepared for a night in the wild—but possibly not for the incoming storm, which carries an orange weather warning.
Local hunters and anglers are being asked to report any sightings as the search continues through the night.
Ruch, a key figure in Norwegian black metal and the mind behind Thorns, and Røstad, known for his work with Slagmaur, both have deep creative roots in dark, atmospheric art—a detail not lost on those following this unsettling story from the Fosen peninsula.
