CAVALERA, the legendary band led by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, founding members of SEPULTURA, is going on a US tour this fall and they’re gonna play their fifth album, Chaos A.D. (released in 1993, because, yup, it’s been that long), from start to finish. And, because metalheads need a good caffeine fix to mosh, Espresso A.D. will be there to fuel the mayhem. Espresso A.D. is a limited edition coffee that’s more than just a drink – it’s a tribute to the iconic album. Made with specialty beans from Max and Iggor’s home state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, it’s packed in collectible tins featuring new artwork that nods to the original Chaos A.D. cover art by Michael Whelan (who’s also known for his work with artists like JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN). The design embodies the album’s spirit and messaging, with a strong ‘REFUSE / RESIST’ vibe that’s still super relevant today.
“Max actually came up with this concept during the last tour, as he we wanted to get everyone fueled up to go fkn crazy in the pit; we promised him we’d get it done, and well, here we are lol!…We actually went through revision after revision on this concept, as it was a hard one to get right in not only paying humbled respect to the original album’s artwork Cacophony by Michael Whelan, but really embodying the heart and spirit of Chaos A.D. We also wanted this legendary album’s messaging to be apparent in the concept, and relevant to current times. The CAVALERA brothers are bringing back the Chaos this September with their Return To Chaos tour, alongside SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, POWER TRIP, and SANGUISUGABOGG. With their recent re-recordings being a huge hit, you can bet they’ll bring their A-game to reviving Chaos A.D. on stage. Classics like “Refuse/Resist”, “Territory”, “Slave New World”, and “Propaganda” are sure to get the crowd going. By the way, SEPULTURA’s Chaos A.D. is often cited as one of the most influential metal albums of the 90s.
Max shouts out a rallying cry, “Tanks on the streets, confronting police, bleeding the plebs!” And Iggor thunders through the drum intro to “Territory” like an Apache Helicopter. Silence means death! Stand on your feet! CAVALERA will be tearing up the states, decimating every stage they hit like it’s a warzone.
