Ask the Artist: Athens’ Melodic Death Force AMONGRUINS Embrace the “Advent of Chaos”

Welcome back to Ask the Artist, where we ask metal musicians the important questions — not about gear, not about charts, but about the strange little things that live behind the riffs.

Today we turn to AMONGRUINS, melodic death metal blasters from Athens, Greece, who are currently gearing up for the release of their next full-length album Advent Of Chaos, due out on February 20th, 2026 via Theogonia Records.

With the band just unleashing the new single and video for the album’s title track, “Advent Of Chaos,” we decided to momentarily pull them away from the apocalypse and ask something a little more… human.

Ask the Artist

Question:
“Do you have a guilty pleasure — something you like, even though you kind of wish you didn’t?”

AMONGRUINS:

“The answer would be talent shows. They are ridiculous and totally staged, but somehow I find them very relaxing and enjoyable!”

From blast beats to buzzer buttons — balance is everything.

Today’s Track: “Advent Of Chaos”

If their guilty pleasure is comfort TV, “Advent Of Chaos” is the exact opposite.

The track is a dark, heavy, and immersive statement — a clear step forward for the band in both weight and atmosphere. Crushing riffs collide with sharp melodic lines, while the relentless rhythm section drives everything forward like a storm you can’t outrun. It’s melodic death metal that doesn’t just aim to be aggressive, but emotionally oppressive, pulling the listener into themes of destruction, rebirth, and inner collapse.

The accompanying video amplifies that feeling perfectly. Shot outdoors beside a remote lake and surrounded by towering cliffs, it captures the band performing in a cold, elemental landscape that mirrors the music’s raw power. Nature becomes part of the composition — vast, indifferent, and overwhelming.

Directed and produced by Dimitris Papadimitroulas, the video adds a cinematic layer to the band’s apocalyptic vision, while the sound itself is sharpened to a massive, precise edge through the mixing and mastering work of Saku Moilanen at Deep Noise Studios.

“Advent Of Chaos” doesn’t just preview the album — it sets its tone: darker, heavier, and more intense than anything AMONGRUINS have done before.

And if this is only the second single, February can’t come fast enough. Chaos outside, comfort inside — metal musicians are just like the rest of us… only louder!
