HERETOIR Face the Collapse of the Modern World (Again) With New Album “Solastalgia”

New Single “The Ashen Falls” Now Streaming—Try Not to Cry Too Loudly

Germany’s atmospheric blackgaze melancholists HERETOIR have returned with another poetic punch to the soul. The band’s fourth album, Solastalgia, drops September 19th via AOP Records, and promises to be their most “vulnerable and accessible” work yet—which in Heretoir language means: expect beauty, despair, and probably a few tears in your coffee.

Following 2023’s Nightsphere—an album that made you feel both insignificant and deeply seen—Solastalgia offers a fresh dose of existential reflection for those who find modern civilization a bit too… much. Recorded and mixed at 1408 Productions (spooky), mastered by Lasse Lammert, and paired with stunning artwork by Rudolf Hima, this album is designed to be felt in your chest and your spine.

Leading the charge is opening track and first single “The Ashen Falls”, a slow-burning swirl of isolation, alienation, and all the fun things we like to ignore until 3 AM. The band says:

“This song is very close to our hearts as it deals with the struggle of isolation and alienation, existence within modern civilization and a frantic and relentless society.”

You know, just a little pick-me-up for your playlist.

Who is Heretoir, anyway?

In case you’ve been too cheerful to notice them before: Heretoir started as the solo project of David Conrad and evolved into a full-blown trio of sadness professionals. Over the years, they’ve taken their sonic therapy to stages across Europe and Latin America, played major festivals like Summer Breeze and Resurrection Fest, and established themselves as one of the most emotionally intense acts in modern post-black metal.

As David himself puts it, “Our shows are little islands in the dreary world of everyday life.” Think less beach holiday, more emotional shipwreck.

Despite the grim outlook on the state of the world, Heretoir’s message is rooted in empathy, connection, and catharsis—proving that yes, you can scream your feelings and still be deeply sensitive.

So mark your calendars. Stock up on tissues. And get ready for Solastalgia—because the world might be burning, but at least it has a soundtrack. 🖤
