Ever wonder what happens when you combine members of some of the most brutal death metal bands on the planet and ask them to make something even more unrelenting? You get IMPERISHABLE, the new death metal superproject that doesn’t care about your feelings — or your polished production.
Featuring Brian Kingsland (NILE, Enthean), Alex Rush (Olkoth, Enthean), and Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal, Malevolent Creation — yes, that Derek Roddy), IMPERISHABLE are set to drop their debut album, Revelation In Purity, on August 29 via Everlasting Spew Records. And no, the name isn’t ironic — they’re really going to spew it all over us.
Formed as a “raw, unfiltered aggression outlet” (because apparently Nile wasn’t aggressive enough), the trio promises four things: aggressive, dark, evil, fast. Basically, the sonic equivalent of getting punched by a demon in a thunderstorm.
Don’t expect fancy edits or triggered drums here. According to Kingsland, Revelation In Purity is an “honest record,” recorded raw and old-school — which is code for we refused to click ‘Quantize’ even once. There are no samples, minimal edits, and maximum conviction. It’s like a DIY punk zine got possessed by Morbid Angel and recorded in a cave.
Lyrically, the album draws from personal tragedy, fatherhood, loss, and a whole lot of pent-up rage. Kingsland calls it a “kick in the teeth.” We call it a death metal therapy session with blast beats.
Influences include Emperor, Angelcorpse, Zyklon, and of course Nile (because sometimes you just need a backup band for your own rage). It’s atmospheric. It’s apocalyptic. It’s probably going to break your speakers.
Check out the already-released singles, “Oath of Disgust” and the title track “Revelation In Purity,” both of which are guaranteed to make your neighbor call the cops or ask to join your band.
Mark your calendars for August 29. Or don’t — IMPERISHABLE don’t care. They’re too busy tearing holes in reality.
