Who says you can’t rock corpse-paint energy and a crown at the same time? Miss World Chile 2025 semi-finalist Ignacia Fernández just shattered every beauty-pageant stereotype by taking the stage — not with a pop ballad or dance routine — but with a progressive death metal performance worthy of a mosh pit.
During last Sunday’s semifinal round (November 2), Fernández — a 27-year-old model, vocalist, and founder of the Santiago-based band Decessus — stepped out in a flowing gown… and then unleashed guttural vocals that could shake Valparaíso. Alongside her bandmate Carlos Palma, she performed an original Decessus track, delivering enough growls and blast-beat energy to leave both the crowd and judges stunned.
The reaction? A standing ovation. One judge admitted he’d never seen anything like it in a pageant before — and honestly, neither have we.
Speaking to Las Últimas Noticias, Fernández said she was nervous about how audiences would take it:
“Television lends itself to people making memes and making fun of you,” she said. “The song I sang is by my band. It’s my job, my life.”
Representing the Las Condes district, Fernández now heads to the Miss World Chile finals this Sunday (November 9) — and maybe, just maybe, the world stage. Her message is clear and loud enough to cut through distortion:
“I’m not trying to fit in. I’m trying to show myself as I am.”
Whether or not she walks away with the crown, Ignacia Fernández has already proven that beauty and brutality can share the same stage — and sound absolutely incredible doing it.
