Novembre Return with New Album ‘Words of Indigo’ – First Single “Your Holocene” Out Now

Italian pioneers of atmospheric and melodic doom/death metal (leaning into progressive/gothic direction since the 00’s), Novembre, are finally back. After nearly a decade of silence following 2016’s URSA, the band will release their long-awaited ninth studio album, Words of Indigo, on November 7th via Peaceville Records.

To mark the announcement, Novembre have unveiled the first single from the record, “Your Holocene”, alongside a brand-new visualizer.

A New Chapter for Novembre

Formed in Rome in 1990 (originally under the name Catacomb), Novembre have spent 35 years crafting an unmistakable style that blends melancholy, heaviness, and atmosphere. With Words of Indigo, the band promises their most richly detailed and sonically refined work yet, weaving together torrents of raging death metal and sweeping melodic passages into layered epics of beauty and intensity.

Frontman and songwriter Carmelo Orlando describes the new single:

“The main riff of this track is deeply rooted in the ‘80s, whether AOR or pop-rock. It’s hard to say exactly where it has sprung from, but I just know it’s extremely catchy — a true earworm. This song practically wrote itself — its structure was ready within a couple of hours. The lyrics describe a primal soul, coming from a distant era — raw, rough, yet pure.”

Line-Up & Special Guests

Words of Indigo also introduces a refreshed line-up:

  • Fabio Fraschini – bass

  • Alessio Erriu – guitar

  • Federico Albanese – guitar

  • Yuri Croscenko – drums

The album features a special guest appearance by Ann-Mari Edvardsen (ex–The 3rd & The Mortal), who lends her haunting voice to “House of Rain.”
