Ov Sulfur Announce New Album Endless – Because Apparently Eternal Suffering Needed a Soundtrack

Las Vegas blackened deathcore crew Ov Sulfur are back to ruin your January 16th in the best way possible. That’s the date their sophomore album Endless drops via Century Media, and if the first single “Evermore” is any indication, expect equal parts brutality, melody, and existential dread.

Frontman Ricky Hoover says the theme of Endless is—brace yourself—endless suffering. But before you roll your eyes, the band actually dives into the very metal question: what if eternal life was real? Spoiler: it’s not all lightning bolts and immortality; it’s grief, insanity, and watching your loved ones die while you still have to pay rent forever. Cheery stuff.

Evermore builds up as the character in the song basically loses his mind,” Hoover explains. Good news though—the music builds right alongside, so at least you’ll have a soundtrack for your breakdown.

Guitarist/vocalist Chase Wilson adds that the track is “kind of all over the place in the best way”—translation: blazing riffs, a beefed-up chorus, and a breakdown designed to separate your soul from your body.

Endless also doubles down on Ov Sulfur’s growing melodic side, with Hoover pushing his clean singing further (yes, he learned falsetto in the studio, and apparently looked shocked when it worked). There’s also more interplay between him and Wilson, inspired by Alice in Chains, because why not add some grunge-era misery to deathcore’s sonic apocalypse?

Guest spots come courtesy of Josh Davies (Ingested), Johnny Ciardullo (Carcosa), and Alan Grnja (Distant), continuing the band’s tradition of stacking features like Pokémon cards.

Ov Sulfur will hit the road this November and December with Ingested, Distant, Cell, and Crucifiction. Tour dates range from Fresno to Quebec City to Pomona, so odds are they’ll be within driving distance if you’re into blackened deathcore and/or contemplating your own mortality.
