Sebastian Ramstedt (NECROPHOBIC, IN APHELION, ELDFÖDD) tells about the first metal band he heard. Stream new ELDFÖDD single “Possess, Bind and Devour” today!

In this edition of our Ask the Artist series, we sit down with one of the true legends of the Swedish death metal underground: Sebastian Ramstedt. Known for his work with NECROPHOBIC and IN APHELION, Ramstedt has been shaping the sound of extreme metal for decades. With his new band ELDFÖDD, he’s once again tapping into the raw fire that made the genre erupt in the first place.

So we had to ask him one random question:

Q: “What was the very first metal band you ever heard, and what impression did it leave on you? Do you still listen to them today?”

ELDFÖDD – New Single “Possess, Bind and Devour” Out Now

Fresh from Sebastian’s reflections, let’s get to the real news: ELDFÖDD have just unleashed their second single, “Possess, Bind and Devour”, taken from their upcoming debut EP Risen from the Flames, set to be released on October 10th, 2025 via Edged Circle Productions.

Formed in early 2025, ELDFÖDD are a death metal supergroup featuring members of NECROPHOBIC, DIMMU BORGIR, ENTOMBED, GENERAL SURGERY and more. What began as a fiery one-off project quickly grew into a full force of rotten, vile and powerful Swedish death metal.

The EP was recorded at Studio Heavenshore, mixed and mastered by Gord Olson, with artwork created by Sebastian himself. Expect a release drenched in the spirit of CARCASS, ENTOMBED, AUTOPSY and DISMEMBER—old-school death metal given new life through blistering compositions and an all-star lineup.

ELDFÖDD are:

  • Erik Sahlström – Vocals

  • Sebastian Ramstedt – Lead Guitar

  • Johan Jansson – Rhythm Guitar

  • Victor Brandt – Bass

  • Perra Karlsson – Drums

Tracklist – Risen from the Flames
01. Risen from the Flames
02. Beyond the Fire
03. Possess, Bind and Devour
04. Silence of the Gods
