Some people decorate their porches with fake cobwebs and plastic skeletons for Halloween. UNTO OTHERS? They resurrect themselves.
The Portland gothic heavy metal outfit has clawed their way back from the musical graveyard to deliver I Believe in Halloween II, the highly anticipated (and totally cursed) sequel to their 2021 release. The new EP arrived October 17 via Lone Fir Records (USA) and Eisenwald Records (Europe), in collaboration with Century Media Records — which means it’s officially approved by both witches and accountants.
This sinister little collection features three brand-new tracks of existential dread, plus covers of The Misfits’ “Halloween” and Ramones’ “Pet Sematary.” Because if you’re going to dig up classics, you might as well do it with style.
The first single, “What I Did…”, is, according to the band, about “a cool dude looking for a good time” who may or may not end up as the reason you never trust anyone offering you “just one more drink.” The other songs dive into cosmic horror (“They Came From Space”) and robot apocalypse (“Robots”), proving once again that UNTO OTHERS operate best at the intersection of doom, goth, and late-night sci-fi reruns.
If you’re anywhere near Portland this Halloween, the band will perform October 31 at High Water Mark — where you can celebrate the holiday properly: in black leather, bat earrings, and emotional despair.
