Glenn Danzig is stepping back into his crooner persona this New Year’s Eve as he brings a special “Danzig Sings Elvis” performance to the House of Blues in Anaheim, California on December 31.
This marks Danzig’s first Elvis–themed concert since February 2023, when he took the stage at Hollywood’s historic Montalbán Theatre. The project, which reimagines a selection of Elvis Presley classics through Danzig’s unmistakable baritone, first arrived in April 2020 as the album Danzig Sings Elvis. The record includes tracks like “Is It So Strange,” “Loving Arms,” and “One Night,” the latter of which Danzig has described as a personal standout.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about “One Night,” Danzig recalled experimenting heavily in the studio:
“It’s a great song. There’s a lot of different versions… some softer, some harder. The one I decided on is the one I like the best.”
The album itself took shape gradually. Initially conceived as a short EP, Danzig Sings Elvis expanded over time as Danzig continued recording between other projects.
“In between doing it, I’m working on a million other things,” he said. “While doing other records, we’d have downtime and I’d turn to Tommy [Victor] and say, ‘Let’s do another Elvis track.’ Eventually, it became an album.”
Danzig’s fascination with Presley is nothing new. He previously covered “Trouble” on 1993’s Thrall-Demonsweatlive EP and tackled “Let Yourself Go” on 2015’s Skeletons.
