JOHN LODGE, the legendary bassist, songwriter, and vocalist of THE MOODY BLUES, and Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer, is hitting the road again with a brand new show, titled Singer In A Rock And Roll Band. You might know him from hits like “Nights In White Satin” and “Tuesday Afternoon”.
After the massive success of his Days Of Future Passed show over the last couple of years, John decided to go back to his roots and revisit the songs he loved performing with THE MOODY BLUES. He wanted to bring these classic tunes to life in a way that stays true to the original sound, while still injecting them with some modern magic. It’s like a time capsule, but with better lighting and sound. By the way, THE MOODY BLUES were one of the first bands to use a symphony orchestra in their music, which was a game-changer back in the day.
When John wrote the hit single “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band)” back in 1972, it was a response to people expecting him to change the world. He was like, “Hey, I’m just a singer in a rock and roll band!” But the song’s message went beyond that – it was about getting people to be part of the music. And if you’ve ever been to one of John’s shows, you know how infectious that energy is. It’s like a big ol’ party, but with better music.
This new show is going to feature songs from THE MOODY BLUES’ most iconic albums, including Days of Future Passed, Seventh Sojourn, Octave, and Long Distance Voyager – that triple platinum selling album that’s still a fan favorite. You can expect a mix of classic hits, deep cuts, and tributes to his former bandmates. It’s going to be a wild ride, with electrifying video and lights to boot. As one reviewer put it, it’s “a trip worth taking and remembering!” (Tony Violanti review of John’s show March 24, 2025).
John will be joined by Jon Davison of YES (yeah, THAT YES – the prog rock legends) and his 10,000 Light Years Band for a special rendition of “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band)” and other hits. You might not know that Jon Davison is also a talented singer-songwriter in his own right, having released solo material.
