TAYLOR HAWKINS’s 17-Year-Old Son SHANE Announces Summer 2025 CHEVY METAL Tour

CHEVY METAL, the cover band that’s been around longer than your dad’s leather jacket (and co-founded by the late FOO FIGHTERS legend Taylor Hawkins), just dropped four fresh tour dates. Oh, and tickets for already-announced shows? They’re up for grabs too. Let the chaos begin.

Their summer rampage kicks off July 12 in Menlo Park, CA at The Guild Theatre, bulldozing through Denver, New York, Philly, D.C., and wrapping up September 5 in Vegas at The Copa. But wait—August is basically Chevy Metal Month in SoCal. They’ll hit Venice Beach’s The Venice West (Aug 8), Long Beach’s Alex’s Bar (Aug 9), and drop their annual charity gig Aug 31 at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills. Proceeds go to the Eastwood Ranch Foundation, which saves furry lives. Fun fact: Donate a buck by September, and some mysterious benefactor doubles it—cha-ching! Local openers? Yep, they’ll be there. Tickets here. Bring earplugs.

CHEVY METAL started in 2002 when Taylor and his FOO FIGHTERS drum tech/Wiley Hodgden decided to moonlight as a bar-band duo. Fast-forward 20-ish years, and they’re a full-blown rock circus. Fun fact: Guitarist Brent Woods studied under Randy Rhoads (you know, the guy who made Ozzy Osborne actually show up to rehearsals). Oh, and drumming duties now belong to Shane Hawkins—Taylor’s 17-year-old son. Talk about a legacy gig.

The band finally snapped a promo pic (see above) at their Valley rehearsal spot, courtesy of photographer Jeff Coggins (@jeffcogginsphoto). “Playing with these guys and keeping my dad’s vibe alive is insane,” says Shane. “Also, covering songs by bands that probably existed before WiFi? Rad.”

Wiley sums it up: “Our shows are loud. Drum solos. Cursing. We try not to swear, but… *shrug*.” Meanwhile, Brent admits they butcher classics like it’s their job: “We speed ‘em up, jam ‘em out, maybe add a keytar solo. No regrets.”

Setlists dive into BLACK SABBATH, VAN HALEN (cue “Eruption” air-guitar moments), THE POLICE (but faster), QUEEN, and THIN LIZZY. Past surprise guests? Just casual icons like Mick Jagger, Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, and Flea. No big deal.
