Tom Morello Accidentally Writes Three Full Albums While Protesting ICE, Forgets to Go Home

LOS ANGELES — Legendary ‘90s guitarist and part-time resistance mascot Tom Morello took part in the ongoing ICE protests in LA this week — and in the most Morello way possible, he accidentally wrote and recorded three full political rock albums mid-march without even realizing it.

Witnesses claim Morello, 61, was chanting slogans with one hand and finger-tapping solos on a megaphone with the other when a small group of protesters suddenly stopped, sat cross-legged, and began moshing in place. “He shouted ‘Destroy American Fascism,’ and then dropped the sickest riff I’ve heard since Bulls on Parade,” said local organizer Luna Barkowitz. “We thought it was a speech, but turns out it was a demo.”

Sources close to Morello say the albums, tentatively titled Molotov for Breakfast, Flip the Bird, Not the Script, and Uncle Sam is a Narc, were unknowingly composed using only protest chants, signpole percussion, and an old Telecaster tuned to “dystopia minor.” One album features guest screams from a guy who had tear gas in his eyes, while another includes a remix of the LAPD riot shields being rhythmically banged by angry protesters.

When asked for comment, Morello responded via a grainy Instagram livestream, holding a coffee can for percussion and yelling: “I didn’t even know I was writing songs. I was just trying to break capitalism’s back through distortion pedals!”

Morello’s manager has reportedly been trying to get him out of the crowd for three days now. “He won’t leave. He just keeps shouting ‘organize, unite, defend’ and shredding solos with his elbow,” said the manager, who added that Tom’s tour bus is currently double-parked between two food trucks and a van labeled “Free Palestine.”

The albums are set to drop as soon as someone can figure out how to convert megaphone feedback into Spotify format. Meanwhile, Morello has vowed to “stay in the streets until every fascist is gone, or until someone brings him a sandwich.”
