Toronto’s shadow-soaked post-punk duo TRAITRS have officially thawed from whatever cryogenic vault they were hiding in, returning with their new single “I Was Ill, You Were Wrong.” Their 2021 hiatus might as well have been four decades the way this track hits — all icy synths, aching vocals, and that signature gloom-meets-glow atmosphere only TRAITRS seem to pull off without breaking a sweat.
After last month’s “Burn in Heaven” cracked the seal on their upcoming album Possessor, this new track blows it wide open. It’s vulnerable without being fragile, bleak without being hopeless — the sort of song that stares directly into the void and somehow finds a pulse. Shawn Tucker calls it a reminder to actually live the life you want. Honestly? You can hear that urgency in every line.
Their new album Possessor arrives March 13, 2026, written during a brutally grey Toronto winter that seemed determined to break everyone’s spirit. Instead, TRAITRS turned the storm into fuel.
The band have also announced a massive spring 2026 tour — headlining dates plus select shows supporting She Past Away, Lebanon Hanover, and Ultra Sunn.
