BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME (BTBAM to their ride-or-die fans) are dropping their new album “The Blue Nowhere” on September 12 and then immediately hitting the road like their tour bus is on fire. Kicking off September 14 in Philly, this six-week North American showdown co-headlined with HAIL THE SUN (who probably named their band after a misheard lyric) will blast through cities from Boston to Vancouver. Opening acts? Oh, just DELTA SLEEP (Sept 22-Oct 30), the math rock nerds from across the pond, and THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE & I AM NO LONGER AFRAID TO DIE (Sept 14-21), whose name is longer than some of their songs.
Paul Waggoner from BTBAM is practically grinning through his statement: “It is with great thrill and anticipation that we’re finally able to announce that we will be hitting the road this fall in support of our brand new album, ‘The Blue Nowhere’. We always embrace the opportunity to perform for our amazing fans, particularly when we have new music floating around out there!” Translation: “We’re stoked, y’all.”

25 years in, and BTBAM’s still out here bending genres like spoons. Their 10th album, “The Blue Nowhere”, is their first with InsideOut Music and features strings, horns, and probably a kitchen sink. Vocalist Tommy Rogers says it’s “not tied to a storyline” but instead feels like “journal entries” from a caffeine-induced haze. Singles like “Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark” come with a trippy video where marigold petals attack a CGI hotel—thanks to director Miles Skarin, who waited 17 hours for a rendering that probably funded his coffee addiction.
Dan Briggs (BTBAM’s bass wizard) calls the track “funky” and jokes that it’s like “Prince’s band decided to write a prog-metal anthem.” Meanwhile, producer Jamie King ensured the chaos stays melodic. Pre-order the album for bonus tracks, instrumentals, and a door-hanger because… why not?

BTBAM: 25 years of making “versatile, imaginative, and absolutely crushing” music (thanks, Grammys). Their lineup—Tommy Rogers, Paul Waggoner, Dan Briggs, and Blake Richardson—still refuses to write a three-minute song.
