The 2025 GRAMMY Awards were memorable for two reasons—Gojira finally snagged their first-ever trophy, and the internet erupted in confusion after Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante was mistaken for Poppy. While Poppy capitalized on the mix-up with a cheeky “Hello, I Am Poppy” t-shirt, LaPlante recently addressed the situation in an Instagram Live chat, offering a hilariously practical explanation for the mishap.
“I mean, listen, hair and makeup for the GRAMMYs is expensive,” LaPlante confessed. “So we figured, why not go in on a two-for-one deal? We got the same stylist, the same glam team—hell, we even split an Uber to the red carpet. We thought it was genius. Turns out, maybe too genius.”
LaPlante went on to say that while the internet had a blast debating her true identity, she and Poppy just laughed it off. “I didn’t want to make a big deal about it,” she added. “At the end of the day, neither of us won a damn thing. So, why bother? Might as well save the money for next year’s ‘Most Confusing Duo’ nomination.”
As for Knocked Loose, LaPlante gave them a nod for their Grammy night success. “They actually won something, so congrats to them! I bet they didn’t have to share a hairstylist with Poppy to afford it.”
The real question now? Will Poppy and LaPlante double down on the gimmick for next year’s awards, or will they hire separate teams to keep the illusion of individuality alive? Only time—and their shared credit card statement—will tell.
