KID ROCK “Banned” From Performing In California By Governor Gavin Newsom’s Satirical Post

California Governor Gavin Newsom took aim at Kid Rock on September 19th, joking that the rocker is “indefinitely suspended” from performing in the Golden State because of his “horrific music.”

The announcement wasn’t official policy but part of Newsom’s satirical back-and-forth with political rival, U.S. President Donald J. Trump. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Newsom wrote in all caps:

“BECAUSE OF HIS HORRIFIC MUSIC, CALIFORNIA WILL INDEFINITELY SUSPEND KID ROCK FROM PERFORMING IN THE GOLDEN STATE. YOU’RE WELCOME! — GCN”

The mock suspension arrives as debate over free speech and censorship intensifies. Earlier this week, the FCC indefinitely suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live following the host’s commentary about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, prompting backlash over First Amendment concerns.

Kid Rock, a longtime Trump supporter who has performed at rallies and consulted on ticketing legislation, hasn’t publicly responded to Newsom’s latest jab. The two have a history of online sparring, including Kid Rock’s August post on X stating:

“The only support Gavin Newscum will ever get out of me is from DEEZ NUTZ.”
