As SEETHER and SKILLET’s fall tour rolls on, the confusion between the bands and the 2006 horror film Slither has reached biblical proportions. In Asheville, North Carolina, fans dressed as gooey alien slugs and tentacled monsters swarmed the venue, mistaking the show for a Slither fan convention. John Cooper, SKILLET’s ever-faithful Christian frontman, saw the situation as an opportunity—if not to rock, then to save some souls.
“It was chaos,” Cooper said in an Instagram post. “We had worm people, zombie slugs, and even a guy dressed as a giant liver. I just knew it was time to step in and spread the word of redemption.”
Halfway through the set, Cooper pulled out a giant inflatable pool filled with water and began calling the “lost souls” onstage for a spontaneous mass baptism. “It’s either that or we exorcise these guys,” he told the crowd with a smile, before dousing a fan in full tentacle gear, declaring, “By the power of skillet and sound, you are cleansed!”
Meanwhile, SEETHER’s Shaun Morgan was seen laughing from the side of the stage, shaking his head at the spectacle. “Look, I don’t care if you’re a slug monster, just vibe with the tunes,” he said. Rumor has it Morgan’s considering selling SEETHER-branded holy water for the rest of the tour.
