Ah yes, another brave soul has entered the ever-revolving haunted carousel known as CRADLE OF FILTH.
The band has officially announced guitarist Joff Bailey — best known for SAVAGE MESSIAH — as the latest musician to step into the beautifully cursed position previously occupied by Marek “Ashok” Šmerda, who escaped the Dani Filth Experience last year alongside enough public drama to fuel three gothic documentaries and at least one lawsuit.
Naturally, the introduction arrives with the same energy as a company onboarding email moments before the building catches fire.
“Please join us in officially welcoming to the band Joff Bailey,” wrote Dani Filth, sole surviving original member, eternal CEO of Victorian chaos, and seemingly the only person legally permitted to remain in CRADLE OF FILTH for longer than two album cycles.
According to Dani, Bailey has already worked on the forthcoming album and has begun his “touring adventures with the Filth,” a phrase that sounds less like a career move and more like a warning carved into a castle wall by a dying monk.
Fans, meanwhile, are reacting exactly as expected:
- “Cool!”
- “How long until this one posts a 14-slide Instagram statement?”
- “Should I even learn his name?”
- “See you in the 2027 ex-members lawsuit compilation.”
At this point, joining CRADLE OF FILTH feels less like becoming part of a band and more like accepting the Defense Against the Dark Arts position at Hogwarts.
Still, congratulations to Joff Bailey, who now embarks on the noble journey of:
- recording riffs,
- wearing expensive black coats,
- surviving tour buses,
- and eventually becoming “former CRADLE OF FILTH guitarist Joff Bailey” in a future headline none of us can yet predict in detail — but all of us can absolutely see coming.
