SIX FEET UNDER’s Chris Barnes Finally Allowed Back Into Venues After 12-Year Ban for Looking Too Homeless

After more than a decade away from U.S. stages, SIX FEET UNDER frontman Chris Barnes has finally returned to the road. But according to Barnes, the reason for the long absence wasn’t high tour costs or lack of a booking agent—it was because club security repeatedly mistook him for a wandering homeless man and refused to let him in.

“Yeah, the first U.S. tour in 12 years, actually, for us,” Barnes confirmed in a recent interview. “I kept showing up to venues, but every time, security was like, ‘Sir, you can’t sleep here.’ And when I told them I was the singer for SIX FEET UNDER, they’d just shake their heads and say, ‘Sure, buddy, and I’m Lars Ulrich.’ So eventually, I just gave up.”

Barnes explained that after being denied entry to multiple venues, he focused on touring Europe, where concert staff apparently assumed he was just an eccentric metal veteran instead of someone who had taken a wrong turn while looking for a soup kitchen.

“But now, thanks to this new booking agency, we finally made it happen,” Barnes continued. “They talked to venue security ahead of time and convinced them I wasn’t trying to break in to charge my phone. So here we are.”

This years tour, co-headlined with NILE, is being billed as a triumphant return for SIX FEET UNDER, though sources say that at least three security guards have already attempted to escort Barnes off the premises at various stops, mistaking him for a drifter looking for a place to nap.

When asked if he planned to change his look to avoid further confusion, Barnes scoffed. “Hell no,” he said. “I look way much older now, this grandpa-style, but if anything, I might lean into it. Next tour, I’m bringing a shopping cart and some pigeons.”
