SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM announce U.S. tour

Cult avant-garde prog-metal visionaries SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM are continuing their comeback with a newly announced U.S. tour and long-overdue vinyl reissues of their early catalog.

After returning in 2024 following a 13-year hiatus, the Bay Area collective are now celebrating their 25th anniversary with a run of live dates stretching from May through August.

The band’s upcoming shows are expected to deliver the same theatrical intensity, experimental chaos, handmade-instrument wizardry, and delightful confusion that made them one of underground music’s most unique acts in the first place.

Alongside the tour, SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM will finally see their first three albums released on vinyl in North America through Avant Night and Joyful Noise Recordings. The reissues include: Grand Opening and Closing (2001),  Of Natural History (2004), In Glorious Times (2007).

The current lineup features core members Nils Frykdahl, Carla Kihlstedt, Dan Rathbun, Michael “Iago” Mellender, and drummer Wes Anderson.

For anyone who enjoys music that sounds like progressive metal performed by escaped inventors in a post-industrial circus, this tour should be essential viewing.
