Today’s Ask The Artist entry comes in fast, loud, and absolutely unforgiving. Austrian death-thrashers DEATHSTORM are back with “Mount Eerie,” the second single from their upcoming fifth album Cascophonies, set for release on May 22, 2026 via Dying Victims Productions.
Active since 2010, DEATHSTORM have built their name on relentless, high-velocity thrash, drawing blood from the veins of KREATOR, SLAYER, and DARK ANGEL, while sharpening their own blade with each release. After a relatively quiet period following 2020’s For Dread Shall Reign, they return leaner, meaner, and clearly not interested in subtlety.
So naturally, we asked them something important.
The Question
“If your upcoming album had a warning label, what would it say?”
DEATHSTORM answer:
“Maybe just a simple ‘AYOR’ — the record is insanely heavy, and features some of the most devastating material that we have ever released. On top of that, it’s a non-stop riff assault from front to back. This is no atmospheric bedroom Black Metal — if you’re not used to the riff, this one will hurt.”
Short. Honest. Potentially hazardous.
DEATHSTORM – “Mount Eerie”
If that warning wasn’t clear enough, “Mount Eerie” drives the point home with a steel-toed boot.
This is pure, unfiltered thrash violence — razor-sharp riffing, breakneck pacing, and zero patience for anything resembling restraint. The track barrels forward with that late ‘80s intensity, channeling the chaos of classic SLAYER and DARK ANGEL, but with a distinctly Teutonic edge that gives it extra bite.
There’s no filler here, no atmospheric detours, no time to catch your breath — just tight, aggressive songwriting packed into a relentless onslaught. And that’s exactly what Cascophonies promises across its entire runtime: a 29-minute blitz of speed, hooks, savage riffs, and scorching leads, delivered with precision and power.
After years of honing their craft, DEATHSTORM aren’t reinventing thrash — they’re weaponizing it.
⚠️ You were warned. Cascophonies lands May 22.
