DOWN are officially bringing the riffs back to the road this summer.
The New Orleans sludge metal powerhouse featuring Philip H. Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Kirk Windstein, Jimmy Bower and Pat Bruders has announced the “Strap It Down” North American tour, a crushing two-week run with support from HELMET and SPIRIT IN THE ROOM.
The tour kicks off August 15 in Atlanta and wraps September 4 in Shakopee, Minnesota, where DOWN will appear alongside SLAYER, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and HATEBREED. Along the way, the band will also hit Zakk Wylde’s “Berzerkus” festival in Pennsylvania and New York.
For longtime fans, this run marks another rare opportunity to catch one of heavy music’s most influential supergroups in full force. Blending the swampy groove of New Orleans sludge with Southern metal attitude and hardcore aggression, DOWN have remained a cult favorite since the early ‘90s thanks to albums like NOLA, Down II and Over The Under. With Anselmo and Windstein sharing a stage once again, expectations for these shows are understandably high.
Meanwhile, HELMET’s addition makes the package even heavier, bringing together two bands whose impact on modern metal and alternative heavy music still echoes decades later.
