Not exactly metal, but definitely something fans of darker, atmospheric rock music may want to keep on their radar.
Nashville-based artist J NOIRE has officially debuted his first single, “Radiate,” through newly launched VAUX RECORDS — the label founded by former RISE RECORDS owner Craig Ericson, whose résumé includes helping develop artists such as SLEEPING WITH SIRENS, PVRIS, DANCE GAVIN DANCE, BEARTOOTH, and OF MICE & MEN.
Blending modern rock, industrial textures, cinematic atmosphere, and emotionally charged songwriting, “Radiate” pulls influence from acts like NINE INCH NAILS, A PERFECT CIRCLE, BAD OMENS, BRING ME THE HORIZON, and BREAKING BENJAMIN while still carving out its own identity. The result is a polished, melodic track with a darker mood and an uplifting core centered around resilience and hope.
Speaking about the single, J NOIRE said:
“It’s a song about hope, and these days I feel like we need songs to remind people that there’s ALWAYS hope, love, and purpose in life. We all deserve that spark, something that radiates.”
The project was created by Nashville-based musician Jake Johnson, whose background stretches from learning guitar as a child to years spent performing professionally on Nashville’s Broadway circuit before shifting toward more personal and emotionally honest material. That transition eventually led to a collaboration with Craig Ericson and the formation of VAUX RECORDS.
Produced alongside Ryan Furlott, “Radiate” serves as the first introduction to the upcoming EP Prometheus, with additional material expected later this year. J NOIRE has also expanded into a full band lineup featuring bassist Steve Stokes and drummer Danny Laverde.
For listeners who enjoy modern active rock with industrial atmosphere, big hooks, and a darker emotional tone, this is worth checking out — even if it leans more toward modern rock than outright metal.
