Earlier this year, it had been announced that Rorschach Test would be joining Genitorturers as the support act for the Scars and Stripes Forever Tour. In a strange reversal of fortune, the Arizona industrial/metal band has now its involvement on the tour, but will now be taking part in this year’s Dark Force Fest, which had initially not been the case. With founder James Baker still helming the band, the festival appearance will see the return former Rorschach Test members Chris Cannella and Jason Kowalski, marking the first time the trio has performed together in 25 years. “Jason and I have been playing in bands together since 1991,” Cannella comments, adding that the invitation to perform at the festival seemed the appropriate time to rekindle their friendship and musical partnership; “We haven’t touched the industrial scene since our N17 days, so this is a chance to do it again, maybe even better than before.” In addition, Luis Kalil (Red Devil Vortex) will be taking over the role of lead guitarist, filling the void left by the unexplained departure of Kolby Peoples. Baker states that Kalil was “one of only a handful of players in the world” capable of performing the leads Peoples had played on Rorschach Test’s Fallen comeback album, released on Halloween 2024. December 13, 2024 saw the release of a remastered edition of the band’s Unclean album from 1998.
Dark Force Fest will be taking place at the Sheraton Parsippany in Parsippany, NJ from May 2-4, with tickets now available via EventBrite. Along Rorschach Test, other acts on the festival roster include Orgy, The Birthday Massacre, Covenant, Funker Vogt, OCCVLTS, Circuit Preacher, Nyxx, Die Sexual, genCAB, Beborn Beton, Razed in Black, Suicide Commando, Flesh Field, Genitorturers, and more; the addition of Rorschach Test follows the departure of SINE, who had originally been on the roster, but had to cancel due to unforeseen personal circumstances.
SINE is still set to appear at Mechanismus: United on Thursday, May 29. Other acts on the five-day festival include genCAB, Ego Likeness, Suicide Commando, [:SITD:], DJ? Acucrack, Mortal Realm, Red Lokust, 16volt, Funker Vogt, Front Line Assembly, and more; a full listing of participating bands and ticket information can be found on the Mechanismus website. SINE will also be touring with Curse Mackey on the latter’s Electric Exorcism Tour from June 26-29, with more dates possibly to follow.
