SEPULTURA have announced what is being billed as their final North American tour, titled Celebrating Life Through Death. According to the band, this run is meant to close the book on a career spanning more than four decades — a claim metal fans have learned to greet with cautious optimism after surviving countless “farewell” tours that somehow last longer than entire band discographies.
That said, if this actually is the end, SEPULTURA are doing it properly.
Formed in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, SEPULTURA helped drag extreme metal out of regional scenes and into the global spotlight, blending thrash, death metal, hardcore, and unmistakable Brazilian rhythms long before “genre fusion” became a press-release phrase. Over the years, they’ve racked up 14 gold records, toured more than 80 countries, and influenced generations of bands well beyond metal’s usual borders.
For this supposedly-last lap, SEPULTURA will be joined by thrash icons EXODUS, hardcore heavyweights BIOHAZARD, and rising newcomers TRIBAL GAZE — a lineup that feels less like a polite goodbye and more like a controlled demolition.
The Celebrating Life Through Death tour kicks off April 29 in Montclair, New Jersey, and runs through May 29, wrapping up at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. The route includes major U.S. and Canadian cities, plus festival appearances at Welcome To Rockville and Sonic Temple — because no farewell tour is complete without at least one massive field of exhausted bodies and beer cups.
Tickets go on sale January 23 at 10:00 a.m. local time, with VIP packages already available.
Whether this truly marks the final chapter or just the end of this era remains to be seen. Metal history suggests a healthy dose of skepticism is wise — but until proven otherwise, this looks like one last proper send-off from a band that earned the right to decide how loud the exit should be.
