The Smashing Pumpkins are marking a major milestone with the announcement of “The Rats In A Cage” tour, a North American run celebrating 30 years of their landmark 1995 album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness.
The tour will feature a two-part set each night — one dedicated to the iconic double album, and another spanning what the band describe as “nearly four decades of hits and dark treasures.” It’s a format that leans heavily into both nostalgia and sheer catalog depth, pulling from one of alternative rock’s most expansive legacies.
Originally released in 1995, Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness remains a defining record of the era, moving over 10 million copies in the U.S. alone and producing staples like “Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” “1979,” “Tonight, Tonight,” and “Zero.” Three decades later, it’s still the kind of album that casts a long shadow — ambitious, excessive, and impossible to ignore.
The 27-date trek kicks off September 30 in Columbus, Ohio and wraps November 12 in Los Angeles, covering major arenas across the U.S. and Canada along the way.
