Tomahawk Announce First Live Shows In 13 Years; U.S. Summer Tour With Melvins

After 13 years off the stage, Tomahawk are back — and they’re not easing into it.

The band will return this summer for their first live performances since 2013, celebrating their 25th anniversary with a month-long U.S. tour alongside longtime labelmates Melvins. It marks the first time the two acts have toured together since 2003’s “Geek Show” run — and judging by the tour title, they’re not taking themselves too seriously.

Dubbed “A Huge Waste Of Your Time And Money”, the trek kicks off July 18 in Nashville and wraps August 15 in Los Angeles.

The lineup remains formidable: guitarist Duane Denison, vocalist Mike Patton, drummer John Stanier, and bassist Trevor Dunn. The band last toured behind Oddfellows in 2013, later releasing Tonic Immobility in 2021 during the pandemic — an album that never received a proper live airing. That changes now.

Denison commented:

“In the spirit of the Olympics, Team Tomahawk has decided to rise up and go for the gold once again — also competing will be our cohorts the Melvins.”

Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne added:

“This tour is a no brainer. I can’t wait. A Melvins/Tomahawk trek will be a stone groove.”

Melvins will hit the road in their four-piece configuration featuring Osborne, Dale Crover, Steven McDonald, and Coady Willis.

An Ipecac pre-sale begins Wednesday, February 25 at 10 a.m. local time (password: Flashback), with general on-sale set for Friday, February 27 at 10 a.m. local time.

For a band that thrives on tension, groove, and controlled chaos, 13 years feels like a coiled spring finally snapping loose.
