ENSLAVED, CANDLEMASS, VOIVOD And More Lead First Wave Of MARYLAND DEATHFEST 2027

MARYLAND DEATHFEST has wasted no time looking ahead to next year, unveiling the first batch of artists confirmed for the festival’s 22nd edition.

Set for May 27–30, 2027, the long-running extreme metal gathering will once again take over multiple venues in downtown Baltimore, including Market Place, Power Plant Live, Nevermore Hall, Soundstage, and Angels Rock Bar.

The initial lineup already offers plenty for fans of death metal, black metal, doom, and thrash. Among the early highlights, ENSLAVED will perform their 1994 debut album Vikingligr Veldi in full, while VOIVOD have promised a set focused on old-school deep cuts. CANDLEMASS, DEMOLITION HAMMER, NAGLFAR, OBSCURA, THULCANDRA, SATURNUS, and SADISTIC INTENT are also confirmed.

Several bands will be performing classic releases in their entirety, including AKERCOCKE playing Choronzon and EXHUMED revisiting Gore Metal.

One of the most intriguing additions is ANCIENT DEATH. Despite widespread acclaim for their 2025 debut album, the band has remained largely absent from live stages, making their appearance a notable get for the festival.

Organizers have also revealed that more than 70 additional artists remain to be announced, meaning the lineup is still far from complete.
