In an unexpected twist, W.A.S.P. frontman Blackie Lawless has revealed the true inspiration behind his pro-Trump rally at the Hammerstein Ballroom last week: a harrowing encounter with an overly enthusiastic Democrat.
During a November 19 Q&A session, Lawless shared the shocking confession. “The night I turned Republican was the night I got bit,” he began, pausing dramatically. “It was at a rally years ago. I was trying to be diplomatic, but this one hardcore Democrat mistook my arm for campaign merch and latched on like a rabid political leech. I had to pry them off with a guitar pick.”
Lawless says the traumatic event left him shaken — and searching for a party with less aggressive methods of persuasion. “Say what you will about Republicans, but at least they argue with words, not incisors.”
He elaborated on how the experience influenced the band’s now-infamous pro-Trump stunt during their performance of “Blind in Texas.” “We unfurled those banners not just for Trump, but for all victims of political chomping. No one should leave a debate with bite marks. It’s about America, people.”
Fans have been left divided by the statement. Some applauded Lawless’s bravery in speaking out against political dental violence, while others found the analogy to be as over-the-top as W.A.S.P.’s stage antics.
To justify the comparison of Big Tech censorship to the 1985 PMRC controversy, Lawless added: “Just like the PMRC wanted warning stickers on our records, Big Tech wants warning stickers on everything! Except, instead of Tipper Gore, it’s Mark Zuckerberg. And instead of cassettes, it’s my Facebook rants. Same fight, different decade.”
As for the patriotic overtones, Lawless assured fans this wasn’t just about politics. “Thomas Jefferson once said the tree of liberty needs to be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Well, what Jefferson didn’t say is to also watch out for rabid tree squirrels — or Democrats — when you’re out there watering that tree.”
In a closing statement, Lawless hinted at a possible new track inspired by his ordeal, tentatively titled “Don’t Tread On Me… Or Bite Me.” It promises to explore themes of freedom, censorship, and rabies vaccinations.
When asked if he feared further backlash, Lawless shrugged. “They can cancel me all they want. Just keep their teeth to themselves.”
W.A.S.P. fans are already petitioning for the song to include a spoken-word segment featuring Lawless narrating the bite story over a shredding guitar solo. “This is the most metal origin story I’ve ever heard,” one fan commented. “Move over, Ozzy’s bat — Lawless has the Democrat!”
