After years of silence, SLEEP have suddenly become very busy.
The legendary stoner metal outfit have announced a new North American tour, unveiled their first new song in eight years, and even introduced a comic book series inspired by the band’s expansive, riff-fueled universe.
The biggest surprise, however, is a major lineup change.
“Have Spacesuit Will Travel” marks the first SLEEP recording without founding guitarist Matt Pike. Bassist and songwriter Al Cisneros is now joined by guitarist Bubba Dupree (VOID) and drummer Dale Crover (MELVINS, REDD KROSS).
Despite the personnel shift, the new track stays true to the band’s trademark hypnotic heaviness. Released through Jack White’s Third Man Records, it serves as the first new SLEEP material since 2018’s “The Sciences”.
The North American tour kicks off September 8 in San Diego and stretches into mid-November, with multiple nights in Seattle and San Francisco among the highlights.
